And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him. (Col 3:17 KJV).

As believers and followers of Jesus Christ, we ought to do all things in his name with thanksgiving.
We are not called to do wrong using God’s name as a cover-up.
We can not expect God to endorse our fleshly or emotionally motivated works.

There have been wrong applications of scriptures to suit emotions outside of God’s command and mandate.
Some people want God to endorse their wrongdoing and cover their sins so that they can look good before others.

King Saul desired the same from Samuel. He admitted that he sinned against God’s command, yet his major concern was to look good before the the people, so he pleaded with Samuel to honour him before the elders and the people. (1 Samuel 15:1-31).

God can not be mocked as the scripture rightly said,
“Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.” (Gal 6:7 KJV).

We need to bear in mind that although God is loving, merciful, and kind. He is also a God of justice. He will not cover our sins.

The most important thing is to have reverential fear of God, obey his word, and worship him in spirit and in truth. Do all things to give God glory through his son Jesus Christ.
